Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
"Easily the most innovative alpabet book of the year, if not the decade... Beyond clever."—The Washington Post Prepare to be amazed. From the lenticular cover that changes with the angle of your hands all the way to the Z, ABC3D is as much a work of art as it is a pop-up book. Each of the 26 three-dimensional letters move and change before your eyes. C turns into D with a snap. M stands at attention. X becomes Y with a flick of the wrist. And then there's U...Boldly conceived and brilliantly executed with a striking black, red, and white palette, this is a book that readers and art lovers of all ages will treasure for years to come.

5 out of 5 stars Exceptionally cool!   December 31, 2008
Not suitable for children under 2 years old because the pages are beautifully developed and might tear in their hands, but this is a really cool book for learning the alphabet and seeing the ways in which letters are constructed and tied together. Very neat to look at!

5 out of 5 stars Execeptional!!   December 29, 2008
This book was much more than I expected. When I got it and opened it I was really impressed by its quality and craftsmanship. My husband who is a Graphic Artist keeps referring to creativity of the designs. Great on the coffee table!! Lori

4 out of 5 stars A very fun 5 minutes   December 26, 2008
Very cute book, great conversation piece. The idea of a book as art is very cool. However, other than flipping through it once or twice and showing your friends, which takes all of 5 minutes of your time, you'll never open it again most likely. If that's your expectation, no problem, but if you want something more for your money, you'll want to skip this one.

2 out of 5 stars minimal content, minimally interesting   December 26, 2008
there are 26 letters in the alphabet.
about 10 of the pop-ups are really clever,
and the rest are merely a block letter in 3-D.
the cover is more fun than what's inside.

4 out of 5 stars Just Like Graphic Class 101   December 25, 2008

While it's been a few years this reminds me of both Peter Charles and Cliff Harvey in classes I took in sculpture and graphics. Only plainer. It's not as remarkable as it "could be" but it is fascinating to 1st graders.

I got it as a gift. Thank you much for remembering the kids. Was it a Vine special, no matter..
And it's going to do double time as I teach two recalcitrant children these basic building blocks of our symbolic meaning, some new way I hope will do it. I'm out of tricks, the year is wearing on, the Standards left them months ago and they know less than ten of these so we will try making them into movies and quiet times together reading because 1 to 1 is the answer, trying new ABC songs and then hoping against hope the miracle of reading will start. The pressure is on.

Actually paper engineering was Charles specialty, my teacher long appreciated. His lessons there among others I treasure. The designing is lovely. The book should be, especially at this price, considered for a child near you or a designer in the wings. It's a real value. I'm getting another for a child I love.
